Welcome to the 11th Asia-Pacific Symposium for Emotions in Worklife (APSEW). APSEW is a meeting of scholars interested in the study of emotions in work settings and brings together postgraduate students, academics, and practitioners.
The Symposium is being sponsored this year by the Department of Employment Relations and Human Resources (ERHR) and the Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing (WOW) at Griffith University in conjunction with ANZAM. Thanks to their sponsorship, we are also able to offer four travel scholarships (view details) for postgraduate students.
This year’s event will take place at Griffith University’s SouthBank campus on Monday, 5th December from 8:30-4:30pm and is scheduled to take place immediately prior to ANZAM (6th-9th December), located a short walk across the river.
We are very fortunate to have as our keynote speaker internationally renowned scholar, Professor Michael Balfour, Chair and Professor of Applied Theatre, School of Education and Professional Studies, Griffith University. Professor Balfour is an expert in performance work with prisoners, soldiers and dementia patients , all non-traditional workplace contexts with emotion (positive and negative) at the core. There will also be a session on ‘Different methods and designs in Emotions Research’ led by Professor Cynthia Fisher (Bond University).
The day will also comprise a session on different methods in emotions. Paper presentations and roundtable sessions to discuss poster submissions will form the remaining part of the program.
Please note that there will be a small fee to cover catering costs:
Registration costs $60 (including GST) with a special rate for students of $10. This price includes registration, lunch, morning and afternoon tea.
The conference will conclude with dinner at a Southbank Restaurant, paid for on the day of the symposium.
